Say Goodbye to the Old Instagram Grid
Here we go again, Instagram changed the square grid to 4:5 and the world is falling apart. This was quite the decision as it wrecked a few profiles that relied on the Instagram interface for their profile layout. Our theory is that it's their way to start moving into a video based app to compete with Tiktok. Be that as it may, we're here to help you move forward with the new Instagram profile grid with a free template for the original 1:1 grid and a 4:5 grid.

Planning a cohesive and visually appealing Instagram feed is essential for personal branding and client presentations. So we put together a free Photoshop template designed to help you mock up and plan your Instagram profile and feed with the latest 2025 update. This download also includes a bonus phone mock up for presentations.
The Template Structure
Look for the layers and folders that mention "Insert Here". These are the areas where you can put your images. This template uses masking to maintain where the image will show.
You'll also find non-editable items that are locked. These are Instagrams non-editable areas of the profile interface. The other while customizable items are unlocked for easy editing.
What To Customize

Profile Picture: Locate the profile picture placeholder, double-click to open, insert your desired image, and save changes.

Feed Images: Within each feed section folder, find the image placeholders. Pop in your images over the placeholders.

Text Elements: Edit any text fields to reflect your username, bio, or other relevant information by selecting the text tool and editing the text layers.
Dial In Your Look
Whatever your plan is, you usually want to have an overall aesthetic. Be sure to look at the entire profile mock-up to ensure a cohesive look. Think about colors and themes that can align with your branding. Spacing and Alignment is another thing to consider. Ensure images and text are properly aligned and spaced for a balanced appearance.
To square or not to square?
